Even though Force of Will is a stronger card than Counterspell, I dont think it is out of the question to reprint it in a Standard-legal set someday

I think originally it felt like this card was designed to counter the Overlords, netting you a card against your opponent casting one for its Impending cost

The utility of this card is what increases its price, and it also features some intricate artwork to compliment its functionality
