VIKING WARRIOR’S SHIELD RING, 10th-11th CENTURY, SIZE 10 2 3/4 As found condition in crispGilt bronze, size 10 with tapered overlapping terminal band. That feature is specific to Viking rings and thought to derive from avoiding the circle for which was sacred. Lenticular bezel with a curious asymmetrical band designed probably representing a map. Perhaps commemorating a voyage. A medial crescent flanked by zig zag (mountains?) and hatched curved line (river?). All executed in light, but crisp, uniform, clear detail. Excellent and
